A cutting-edge defense and aerospace company is looking for a Systems Engineer IV to take ownership of modeling, simulation, and controls engineering for propulsion and aerospace systems. You’ll play a key role in solid rocket motor performance, controllable solids technology, and flight control system design
.

This is a hands‑on role with increasing technical independence, customer interaction, and opportunities to mentor junior engineers.

• Develop high‑fidelity models & control algorithms for propulsion, guidance, and flight control
• Support system simulation architectures for design, verification, and validation
• Perform cont rollability studies & performance trades (Monte Carlo, sensitivity, parametric analysis)
• Contribute to ballistics modeling & solid rocket motor performance analysis
• Model actuation systems and integrate into closed‑loop control architectures
• Apply physics‑based modeling of thermal, aerodynamic, and mechanical systems
• Support mission CONOPS development through modeling & control design
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (GNC, software, systems, test)
• Participate in SRR, PDR, and CDR reviews with DoD customers
• Mentor junior engineers and review technical deliverables
• Author technical reports, interface definitions, and simulation plans

• 7–10 years in modeling, simulation, control systems, or estimation algorithms (aerospace/defense)
• Background in solid rocket motor & controllable solids performance modeling
• Strong systems thinking with ability to work across disciplines
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, Python or equivalent modeling tools
• Understanding of classical & modern control techniques (state‑space, V&V methods)
• Experience with physics‑based, multi‑domain simulations
• Ability to brief DoD customers and contribute to technical reviews
• Bachelor’s in Systems, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering field
• Master’s preferred (may substitute for 1 year of experience)

• Experience with DoD, MDA, or government aerospace programs
• Familiarity with SysML diagrams & simulation planning
• Strong communication and documentation skills
