Under the general direction of the District Permit Engineer, the Encroachment Permit Engineering Technician (EP Tech) processes, issues, and inspects encroachment permits. EP Tech serves as the primary contact for developers, private property owners, public agencies, and others seeking permits. EP Tech logs work performed under approved permits, keeps records documenting compliance, billing, and history, provides monthly and annual production reports to the District Permit Engineer, and performs duties necessary to protect the safety and integrity of the highway system.
Minimum RequirementsApplicants must be eligible for the Transportation Engineering Technician exam. New to State civil service candidates must be on the state examination list. Minimum qualifications are detailed in the Class Specification.
Eligibility forEligibility may be determined by your score on the Transportation Engineering Technician exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
