WhatYou Will Do
- Execute performance, durability, thermal, efficiency, NVH, and safety tests; troubleshoot issues and identify root causes using tools such as MATLAB, Python, or LabVIEW.
- Set up and operate test infrastructure, including benches and dynamo meters, monitor and control test environments (temperature, load, voltage, etc.).
- Collaborate with test technician to develop and execute test plans, procedures, and protocols to validate drive unit performance and reliability.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including design and reliability to identify and resolve technical issues and improve product design.
- Develop test requirements, plans, and specifications for powertrain components (e.g., motors, inverters, gearboxes) based on system and design targets.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to identify failure modes, support DFMEA/PFMEA, and generate design validation plans.
- Participate in quality investigations, support corrective actions with suppliers, and contribute to continuous product and process improvement.
- You may travel to external test labs for testing activities in Bay Area.
- Deep understanding of EV powertrain systems, including motors, inverters, batteries, and gearboxes.
- High Voltage training or demonstrated working knowledge of high voltage DC systems, electric drive units, and associated safety protocols.
- Hands‑on experience with test planning and execution for performance, thermal, durability, and NVH testing.
- Proficient with test infrastructure and instrumentation, such as dynamo meters, and data acquisition systems.
- Data analysis skills using MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering fundamentals, including thermodynamics, controls, and statics/dynamics.
- Experience with failure analysis and root cause investigation in a test or development environment.
- Familiarity with validation and quality tools, such as DFMEA, PFMEA.
The salary for this position ranges from $200,000 to $230,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
