Lead Spacecraft Designer @ EVONA
A growing space technology company is looking for an experienced Lead Spacecraft Designer to take ownership of the mechanical design for a new high energy orbital vehicle. This is a hands‑on role for a mechanical engineer who enjoys detailed CAD work, buildable designs, and close collaboration across propulsion, avionics, and systems.
You will translate system architecture into flight‑ready hardware by leading the design of tanks, structures, mechanisms, and spacecraft interfaces. Responsibilities include CAD modelling, packaging, mass‑properties tracking, mechanical ICDs, structural and thermal analysis, supplier engagement, and support through major design reviews.
Skills Needed:
- Expert Solid Works capability, including assemblies, drawings, and configurations
- Strong GD&T knowledge and tolerance stack‑up understanding
- Experience designing spacecraft or flight hardware
- Background with lightweight structures and propulsion interfaces
- Understanding of launch environments including vibration, loads, and thermal conditions
- Familiarity with structural and thermal analysis tools
- Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines
- Excellent documentation habits and attention to detail
- Experience with composite structures, small satellites, or OTV systems is an advantage.
