Role and Responsibilities
  • Execute projects to meet the standards of the company and the customer.
  • Partner with OPS Manager, Construction Manager, and Field Supervisors to ensure project success and profitability.
  • Develop systems and controls to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Investigate and evaluate potential customer accounts to identify opportunities consistent with marketing objectives.
  • Develop specific strategies to secure business.
  • Visit prospective job sites to determine and evaluate extent of work, job site conditions, and collect pertinent information prior to bid submission.
  • Prepare sketches and work with drafters to develop construction drawings as required.
  • Perform engineering calculations (heat transfer, stress analysis, material selection for refractory and acid‑proof linings, fireproofing systems, mechanical systems).
  • Collect all job costing data (materials, labor, equipment, subcontracts) and prepare job cost reports.
  • Formulate and prepare proposals after estimates are complete; have proposals reviewed and approved internally.
  • Prepare bills of material and equipment for pricing or purchase and coordinate with Buyer.
  • Check warehouse for material availability and requisition materials for transfer to job site.
  • Coordinate all material requirements for jobs and acknowledge receipt with Buyer.
  • Prepare work orders and forward to job superintendents; maintain communication during work in progress.
  • Work with Safety regarding safety aspects of the project; prepare pre‑job safety checklists.
  • Adhere to safety policies and promote safety among team members to comply with OSHA and client requirements.
  • Participate in project safety meetings.
  • Schedule meetings and advise customers on contract details, design changes, technical issues, pricing, invoicing, and scope changes.
  • Visit job sites to check work in progress.
  • Monitor and recommend methods, materials, and layouts for improvement.
  • Develop ideas and solve problems to accomplish critical or difficult portions of a project.
  • Prepare job labor analysis information and analyze actual vs. estimated costs; take corrective action early.
  • Assist in QA/QC processes by inspecting fabricated items and work performed; verify compliance with drawings and specifications.
  • Review completed jobs and analyze labor, equipment, and material costs.
  • Initiate progress billings and final billing of lump‑sum projects.
  • Maintain flexibility to handle several projects concurrently.
  • Support company sales efforts: delivering presentations, soliciting work, following up on jobs, and routine sales calls.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 3 years of applicable industrial construction industry experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong customer orientation.
  • Insulation and Refractory skills knowledge.
  • CAD knowledge and experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce results through others.
  • Planning/Management: ability to handle several projects concurrently.
  • Problem analysis and resolution at strategic and functional levels.
  • Technical skills in engineering management, quality assurance, and costing.
