The Project Engineer supports the successful planning and execution of infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, utilities, and other civil works. The Project Engineer will work closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and design teams to ensure technical accuracy, regulatory compliance and adherence to project schedules and budgets.

Southwest

Division

Shimmick’s Southwest Division, headquartered in Irvine, California, focuses on large public owners in Southern California across water resources, water treatment, transportation and transit markets. Over the past decade, the division has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $350 million North City Pure Water Facility in San Diego and the $200 million Groundwater Replenishment System in Orange County.

Responsibilities
  • Perform various management, leadership and people‑accountability responsibilities for a specific technical group or department.
  • Interpret, organize, execute and coordinate technical assignments.
  • Plan and develop engineering tasks concerning unique or controversial problems, exploring subject area, defining scope, selecting problems for investigation and developing novel concepts and approaches.
  • Maintain liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.
  • Act independently on technical matters pertaining to the field.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field + 8 years of heavy civil construction experience or demonstrated equivalence of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Heavy civil project experience in Southern California.
Additional Information
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre‑employment substance‑abuse test.
  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

The salary range for this position is between $135,000
$165,000 per year, depending on experience and/or education.

Shimmick’s comprehensive benefits plan includes medical, dental and vision coverage; as well as options to participate in an FSA or HSA. The company also provides employer‑paid STD, LTD, basic life and AD&D and an Employee Assistance Program. Additional voluntary benefit offerings include pet insurance, hospital indemnity, critical illness insurance, legal and identity theft protection. These benefits are available to all employees working more than 20 hours per week.

Employees working less than 20 hours per week are eligible for medical, dental and vision coverage as well as EAP services.
