OverviewCommitted and proactive person to join the project HSES team as an HSES Technician. The ideal candidate will be a resource for our field personnel, advise, develop strategies, and lead workplace health, safety, and environmental management programs. They will provide advice, support, and analysis to help establish risk controls and management processes that promote sustainable business practice. They will work to eliminate fatalities, illnesses, injuries, environmental incidents, and property damage.
Observe, audit, and assess implementation of all HSES plans. Provide feedback on observations, audits, and assessment in both oral and written form.
- Be knowledgeable in laws, regulations, and standards of bodies that govern construction work
- Proficient in the suite of Microsoft office products (e.g. Word, Excel, etc.)
- Demonstrate effective communication skills
- Ability to multi‑task and prioritize activities
- Monitor day‑to‑day activities to ensure compliance with federal, local, Client, and CB&I HSES laws, regulations, and standards.
- Conduct observations, audits, and assessments of the site and report safe / unsafe acts, conditions, and potential hazards.
- Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and reporting.
- Promote a strong safety culture by attendance and participation the morning plan of the day meetings, toolbox talks, and HSES campaigns.
- Support the emergency preparedness and response plan, including drills and training.
- Assist as required in liaising with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders on HSES matters.
- Periodically deliver HSES training.
- Review, approve, and issue safe work permits as needed
- Calibrate / test HSES instruments for sampling and monitoring
- Support environmental compliance
- HSES Recordkeeping such as JSA, inspection records, reports, etc.
- Work with client security as needed for site employee access
- 4‑year degree or 2‑year degree in HSES from an accredited college or university
- A minimum of 5 years full‑time HSES experience may be substituted for education
- GSP, ASP, OHST, or CHST preferred
- Must be able to work at heights, sit, stand, walk uneven terrain, climb ladders / stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds Able to work in an outdoor work environment Must be able to hear, see, smell, touch, and speak adequately enough to identify, communicate, avoid, and mitigate hazards
