Sentinel Peak Resources is looking for an experienced Production Engineer to support operations at our Coastal assets. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact in a dynamic environment, based in Bakersfield or the Los Angeles Basin with regular site travel.

Overview of PositionUnder general direction, performs all conventional aspects of engineering work for assigned production field(s). Conducts engineering studies, evaluates feasibility and economics of proposed projects, and resolves existing or potential production problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct production surveillance as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including leading periodic reviews and reviewing reports, to optimize production on thermal and primary producing properties.
- Identify opportunities to improve production from active wells and projects, return idle wells to production, repair damaged wells, or abandon wells as needed. Submits well work proposals and coordinates execution with vendors and field operations staff.
- Monitor the performance of thermal or primary production projects. Identify opportunities and submit proposals to improve and coordinate implementation and follow‑up optimization.
- Participate with team to develop and propose capital and expense forecasts. Execute, monitor, revise and update forecasts as needed.
- Provide engineering support to field staff for the installation, operation, optimization and maintenance of production facilities, extending from wells to sales points.
- Maintain programs and services under their direction within budget, ensuring deliverables are submitted on time and all programs and tasks are completed to meet governmental and contractual requirements.
- Monitor and optimize artificial lift equipment. Monitor, optimize and remediate injection wells as necessary to maintain efficient recovery processes.
- Identify equipment and procedures needed to implement new development or redevelopment projects. Provide production, expense, capital and material estimates for budgeting and planning.
- Ensure accurate production allocation by regularly reviewing well tests and updating well status as needed.
- Interface with Environmental, Health & Safety staff and regulatory agencies as needed to conduct operations in a safe manner and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and laws.
- Perform all other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
- 5 years of work experience in production or reservoir engineering within the oil and gas industry; demonstrated proficiency may supersede experience requirements.
- Knowledge of oil & gas production operations and facilities.
- Knowledge of remedial activities, artificial lift, thermal recovery, well stimulations, new well completions, fracture stimulation, dehydration, water processing, steam generation, and casing vent collection systems.
- Excellent verbal communication skills to build and maintain positive relationships with all levels of management, field operations personnel, community stakeholders, and contract personnel.
- Demonstrated strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare concise reports and maintain required records.
- Strong computer software skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and maintain flexibility in prioritizing work responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
- Strong organization and time management skills enabling the incumbent to meet deadlines.
- Valid California driver’s license with an acceptable driving record per the company’s auto insurance carrier.
- Proficiency in engineering surveillance software such as OFM, and CAD design software preferred.
- Engineer-in-Training or Professional Engineering certification.
