Location: Louisiana

Maintenance Specialist – Controls at Venture Global LNG (Calcasieu Pass Liquefied Natural Gas facility, Lake Charles, LA). This role reports to the Maintenance Controls Supervisor and involves safe, efficient execution of Controls (DCS), PLC, SIS, F&G, Analyzer maintenance. The specialist collaborates with other technicians, supervisors, and departments within Operations & Maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Execute and oversee all Controls systems maintenance (DCS, PLCs, SIS, AMADAS, F&G, stand‑alone applications) within CPLNG HSSE process, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ensure Control System Integrity through Function Test tracking, System Diagnostic tracking, and required regulatory reporting.
  • Perform problem‑solving activities to implement maintenance and reliability corrective measures.
  • Act as maintenance SME for control systems.
  • Maintain system inhibit and bypass accuracy, audit inhibit/bypass log weekly.
  • Engage with project teams and assist in brownfield project design.
  • Implement MOCs with an automation and control system scope.
  • Participate in HAZOP, LOPAs, PHA, RCA, 3D model reviews, P&, and Risk Assessments.
  • Attend project FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests) and ensure quality SAT (Site Acceptance Tests) sign‑offs.
  • Supervise and mentor Control System Technician work (hardware maintenance, controller tuning, trip and startup troubleshooting, alarm management, and other technician responsibilities).
  • Review, redline, and develop Proof‑tests and Function Tests procedures for Safety Instrumented Functions.
  • Assist/perform SIS calculations and validations using site‑approved SIS validation tools.
  • Review and redline Cause and Effects matrices.
  • Implement major DCS configuration changes and process control upgrades.
  • Manage in‑plant fiber schedule and designations.
  • Plan and oversee implementation of control system migrations.
  • Interface with vendors for engineering requests and technical issues.
  • Own assigned Control System, ensuring availability and reliability in coordination with key stakeholders (Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Environmental).
  • Train and develop skills in control systems (Yokogawa Prosafe, Yokogawa Centum VP, Delta V, Mark V, Rockwell, Siemens).
  • Manage in‑plant communication networks and support electrical team with smart MCC configuration and network management.
  • Oversee control system backups and disaster recovery; audit procedures and develop improvements.
  • Adhere to VGIMS, CPLNG Maintenance Manual, and Work Management processes and procedures.
  • Identify potential safety, health, environmental hazards; understand maintenance scope and applicable processes.
  • Prepare Job Safety Hazard Analysis and Work permits (ePTW) and submit before execution.
  • Ensure daily work compliance and progress reports according to maintenance processes.
  • Participate in maintenance planning meetings, backlog reviews, and other related meetings.
  • Oversee contractor work execution, ensuring safe completion and performance per CPLNG Contractor Management procedure.
  • Report contractor quality/non‑compliance issues to supervisor and planning/contract teams.
  • Participate in CPLNG RFO maintenance projects to develop required systems before commercial operations.
  • Manage personal timecard per CPLNG policies (vacations, time‑off, sick leave, training, on‑call).
  • Hold personal accountability for performance and behavior.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; technical degree or nationally recognized certification (e.g., NCCER, NICET).
  • Minimum five (5) years of maintenance controls experience in oil & gas, LNG, or petrochemical facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical industrial standards and regulations (ISA, NFPA 70E, FERC, etc.).
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting controls systems, dedicated applications, Analyzer and F&G (system administration, backup/recovery, access control, alarm management, cybersecurity interfaces).
  • Experience with DCS/SIS/PLC and dedicated applications; preferred systems include:
    Yokogawa Centum VP & Pro Safe SIS, GE Mark VI, Allen Bradley RS Logix, Siemens 400 series PLC, Delta V.
