Field Service Supervisor II

The Field Service Supervisor II leads field crews in advanced inspection, repair, and maintenance of transmission and distribution substation electrical equipment. Responsibilities include coordinating work assignments, ensuring safe and efficient execution of transformer services (testing support, oil‑processing activities, bushing and gasket work), and driving documentation accuracy and job‑site compliance.
- Lead and support crews performing inspection, installation, maintenance, and repair of transformers and high voltage apparatus.
- Reinforce a strong safety culture through PPE adherence and regular Job Behavior Observations (JBOs).
- Plan and coordinate field activities including task assignments and resource planning.
- Maintain documentation of service activities, equipment status, and customer interactions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to field technicians.
- Stay informed on transformer technologies and substation practices.
- Address customer concerns and support issue resolution.
- Prepare reports related to service performance and project outcomes.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in transformer services, high voltage apparatus work, or related utility/industrial field operations
- Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to lead crews and coordinate daily field activities
- Proficiency with MS Office and digital documentation systems
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. and work safely in outdoor, high voltage environments
- Frequent overnight travel; ability to work variable hours including overtime
- Willingness to complete background checks and post‑offer medical evaluation/drug testing where permitted
- High voltage apparatus testing experience (TTR, winding resistance, power factor, insulation resistance, CT/PT)
- Transformer assembly, processing, or maintenance experience
- NCCCO crane certification or relevant rigging/lifting experience
- Working knowledge of substation hazards, LOTO, grounding, and arc‑flash safety practices
- Ability to read and interpret electrical prints, one‑lines, diagrams, and test data
- Understanding of transformer theory, oil‑processing fundamentals, and substation equipment operation
Physical Requirements
- Outdoor substation and industrial environments with weather, noise, and energized equipment
- Regular domestic travel with occasional international travel
- PPE required; reasonable accommodations may be made
