CIVIC FELLOW PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The City of Woodland has established a paid summer fellow program for individuals early in their career seeking public service experience. This program invests in our local workforce and fosters a passion for careers in the public sector. During the eight (8)-week program, fellows will work on specified projects and participate in program-wide activities.

WOODLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE HOST SITE
Woodland Community College is partnering with the City of Woodland to host two fellows as part of this year’s Civic Fellowship Program. The fellows will work on-site at WCC and receive day-to-day guidance and supervision from WCC staff while remaining part of the fellowship cohort and participating in program-wide activities.

This posting is for the Community College Education Policy & Programs Coordinator within the Office of the President at Woodland Community College.

Typical work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday; and 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday, up to 40 hours per week.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Community College Education Policy and Programs Coordinator will support the implementation of Woodland Community College’s new Strategic Plan, with a focus on capacity building, student success, and socioeconomic mobility.

Housed within the Student Services Department, the Coordinator will advance strategic initiatives designed to strengthen student support systems, improve program coordination, and enhance outcomes for disproportionately impacted student populations.

The Fellow will work on a portfolio of projects and related events that may include:

  • Analyzing student services data (retention, persistence, completion, utilization of support programs) to identify equity gaps and opportunities for improvement
  • Research best practices related to student support programs (e.g., advising, basic needs, financial aid outreach, career services, transfer services)
  • Supporting cross-departmental coordination efforts to align student services with strategic plan priorities
  • Assisting in the design and implementation of new or redesigned initiatives that promote student success and socioeconomic mobility
  • Supporting strategic plan events, stakeholder engagement efforts, and community partnerships
