Your Role on the TeamThe Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for oversight of an assigned clinical group (approximately 6–12 students) and coordinating clinical components. The role requires staying current in clinical practice per BRN guidelines and completing continuing education to maintain currency in course content. All health requirements and relevant certifications must be kept up-to-date with the Clinical Support Unit.
Essential Functions (Key Responsibilities)- Oversee functions in conjunction with the Faculty of Record (FOR):
Grading Assignments, Grading Rubrics, Learning activities, Course schedule, Simulation activities, Student Evaluations. - Manage Facility/Agency Evaluations and act as primary contact for assigned students regarding scheduling, assignments, and progress, including remediation planning and follow-up with the FOR.
- Participate in orientation/bootcamp/lab sessions for students (in conjunction with the FOR and other Clinical Instructors).
- Participate in clinical faculty orientation (to course content, assignments, expectations, agency, evaluation methods).
Skills and Abilities
(KSAs)
- Thorough knowledge of delivering clinical nursing education and training material for orientation and skills/competency learning and leadership development.
- Strong interpersonal skills to provide education, training, and resources, and to develop positive working relationships with nursing staff and leadership.
- Detail oriented with proven organizational skills to manage time, prioritize tasks, and complete projects on deadline.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with internal and external personnel and convey complex clinical information clearly.
- Broad knowledge of professional nursing practices and issues.
- Knowledge of methodology for conducting evidence-based research, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and develop potential solutions.
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing practice in one or more of the following clinical areas within the last five years:
Medical-Surgical, Geriatric, Obstetric, Pediatric, Psychiatric/Mental Health.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing;
Master’s degree in Nursing preferred.
- Registered Nurse in the State of California.
- Certification within area of specialty preferred.
