DescriptionGENERAL FUNCTION:
- The Assistant Director of Educational Programs is responsible for the supervision and management of all aspects of the educational development. The incumbent will also be responsible for staff development and leadership. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and regulations. The incumbent will demonstrate a commitment to our YMCA Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Teamwork.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES
- QUALIFICATIONS:
- A four-year or associate degree in education, as well as other requirements per 55 PA code 3270.34 director qualifications. Must possess strong communication skills, good judgement, and aptitude for working with others in a patient professional manner that instills the YMCA character development values and mission. Skills in planning and managing a budget, previous experience developing curriculum and maintaining records and experience using Microsoft Office are desirable.

Other requirements at the time of hire include but are not limited to DHS required training (10 hours), Pediatric First Aid/CPR, Mandated Reporter, Disclosure Statement, Staff Health Assessment less than 12 months old and negative TB test documentation less than 12 months.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, supervise, and implement programs in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA.
- Supervise, evaluate, and maintain records of all staff.
- Responsible for the safety of children while they are in our care.
- Ensure necessary documentation of programs and activities.
- Recruit new participants.
- Establish and maintain relationships with licensing and other partner representatives.
- Promote good personal relationships among children, staff, and parents.
- Attending staff meetings designated by Associate Executive Director and Director of Youth and Family Programs.
- Ensure all training programs meet education requirements established by PA DHS and PA Keystone Stars.
- Responsible for the appearance and upkeep of all assigned spaces, supplies, and equipment.
- Support the program and goals of the YMCA and perform any other duties as directed by the Director of Youth and Family.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Working with participants in a program or instructional setting (standing, kneeling, walking.)
- Position requires lifting at least 35 pounds on a regular basis.
- Position requires reaching above the shoulders, bending at the waist, squatting, kneeling, and sitting on the floor depending on the activities scheduled.
- Individuals must be able to work on a variety of surfaces including cement floors, tile floors, carpeted floors, mulch, wood, and rubberized surfaces.
EFFECT ON END RESULT:
- The effectiveness of this position can be judged by:
- Significant growth in the licensed preschool program.
- Significant increase in camp participation year after year.
- Ensure that all educational related programs are offered consistently, promoted appropriately and fully enrolled.
