Position Information

The Teaching Assistant Development Program Specialist is responsible for management of the Teaching Assistant Development Program (TADP) within Graduate Division while incorporating inclusive teaching practices, digital pedagogy, and AI-supported instructional strategies.
Under the direction of the Grad Success Director, the Specialist is responsible for initial and ongoing training and pedagogical support for UCR graduate student Teaching Assistants (TAs). This includes developing and delivering mandatory New TA Orientations, quarterly continuing training for under-performing TAs, pedagogy workshops, and overseeing the annual TA teaching awards. The Specialist collaborates with other departments on maintaining the student teaching evaluation system, maintains detailed records, and provides program support for marketing, data analysis, and assessment.
The Specialist also manages and facilitates the University Teaching Certificate Program.
The full salary range for the Teaching Assistant Development Program Manager is $66,500 - $118,300 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is up to $78,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position.

- Degree:
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. - Degree:
Master’s or PhD degree. - Experience:
4 – 7 years of related experience. - Experience:
2–3 years experience teaching at the university level. - Knowledge of learning theory, learning styles, affective issues, and socio-cultural/linguistic issues in applying academic support to students.
- Knowledge of how learning skills issues apply to a research institution.
- Knowledge of academic curricula.
- Knowledge in designing and implementing learning and pedagogical models.
- Knowledge of strategies in critical thinking, reading, writing, note taking, test taking, time management, and goal setting.
- May require knowledge of NCAA policies, rules, and regulations.

- Skills in judgment and decision-making.
- Problem solving and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of current research and theoretical models that influence the application and delivery of academic services (e.g., discipline specific, student-population specific).
- Multicultural competencies, knowledge and experience working and interacting effectively with diverse groups of staff, faculty, and student populations.
- Knowledge of program development, data gathering, assessment, and evaluation skills.
- Knowledge of instructional design principles and learning strategies, including needs analysis, backwards design, learning outcomes and assessment design, and instructional approaches including lecture, discussion, activities, projects, lab supervision, etc.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including excellent interpersonal communication, written reports and correspondence, and presentations for large and small audiences.
- Ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects at different levels.
- Familiarity with graduate education and academic career preparation.
- Evidence of commitment to equitable and inclusive learning.
- Ability to facilitate collaborative work across departments.
- Ability to interact effectively with diverse populations, including senior administrators, faculty, staff, students and the public.
- Demonstrated expertise in AI applications in pedagogy, digital learning environments, or educational technology.
