Academic Program Coordinator - Biotechnology
Job Description
SCC is seeking an Academic Program Coordinator to collaborate with the Dean and lead the administration and operational aspects of the Biotechnology program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist leadership with academic schedules, curriculum development, and tracking documentation and materials for the Biotechnology program.
- Implement outreach and recruitment strategies for K‑12 partnerships, four‑year institutions, and business & industry collaborations.
- Collaborate with department colleagues and disciplines to determine relevant pathways, for-credit and non‑credit, for students seeking certifications and degrees in different disciplines.
- Maintain industry relevance of course and program learning outcomes.
- Establish internship opportunities.
- Attend Project Lead the Way, science fairs, and other STEM‑related events.
- Develop presentations for high‑school classrooms and create curriculum for and teach summer workshops.
- Maintain communication with Advisory Board, particularly industry partners.
- Develop and prepare faculty schedules and associated room assignments.
- Visit program sites and classrooms to monitor and evaluate program and faculty effectiveness.
- Assist in preparation of the college catalog, class schedules, and other public information regarding the program.
- Develop and maintain relationships, and lead students, faculty, and staff in a diverse environment.
- Lead and participate in department and staff/faculty discipline meetings and advisory boards.
Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Biotechnology or Biochemistry OR Bachelor’s degree with significant and equivalent industry experience required.
Reporting Relationship- Dean of Mathematics and Sciences
Will be subject to a criminal background check.
