Essential Functions of Position
  • Teach agriculture mechanics courses such as introduction to agricultural mechanics, agriculture welding, small gasoline and diesel engines, electrical and hydraulics fundamentals, agriculture welding fabrication, and other related subjects.
  • Assist in the operation of the Mechanized Agriculture budget, facilities and programs.
  • Develop a Mechanized Agriculture advisory committee and coordinate meetings at least twice a year.
  • Provide advice and mentorship for students within the department.
  • Participate in recruitment activities with high‑school agricultural programs such as FFA competitive events and student leadership activities.
  • Participate in Program Review and Student Learning Outcome development and assessment to improve student learning.
  • Lead the development and implementation of new curriculum and academic programs that are in demand.
  • Stay current in the discipline and participate in appropriate professional development activities.
  • Increase enrollment and completion, assist students in job placement and follow‑up with students in work experience and internship/externship opportunities.
  • Serve on and attend department, college, and district committees.
  • Assist with the development and management of local, state and federal grants.
  • Teach assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evenings, weekends, online or off‑campus and large‑group instruction classes as needed.
  • Fulfill all other duties and responsibilities of instructors.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity‑minded practice within the classroom.
  • One of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of full‑time equivalent professional experience.
    • Associate degree and six (6) years of full‑time equivalent professional experience.
    • Valid California Community College Credential.
    • The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience and skill incorporating elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility.
  • Recent experience working with African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students in the classroom and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion shape participation and outcomes.
  • Experience working with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds including students with disabilities.
  • Willingness to examine and remediate instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students.
  • Professional competency in agriculture mechanics and heavy duty truck technology classes.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new curriculum, use current educational technology methods and tools, and assess student learning outcomes.
  • Commitment to professional growth and membership in professional organizations.
  • Knowledge of current assessment methods, materials, and the community college mission and goals.
Conditions of Employment

178 duty days per year.
Starting annual salary: $71,054 – $106,970 based on education and experience.
Annual doctoral stipend: $2,419 (if applicable).
Fringe benefits include medical, dental, vision coverage, and life insurance. Employees are members of the California State Teacher’s Retirement System (CalSTRS).

Selection Procedure

Applications will be screened by Human Resources for completeness and to determine which applicants meet the minimum qualifications as stated in the job announcement. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications and have submitted all required documents by the closing date and time will be reviewed by a selection advisory committee. The committee will select candidates for interview based on the minimum and desirable qualifications.
