Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely handicapped students in a classroom, monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance; assist students in developing various self-help, social and community skills.
Requirements / Qualifications- EDJOIN Application:
Must be ESSA compliant by having one of the following:- Associate's degree
- Completion of or a minimum of 48 units at a higher education institution (attach transcripts)
- Paraprofessional Proficiency Certificate (proof of passing a locally approved assessment such as CBEST, ParaPRO, or a district‑administered NCLB/ESSA exam)
- Applicants who meet the minimum requirements but require a Paraprofessional Certificate will receive an email invitation to attend a testing session with SCOE.

- Education & Experience:
Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience working with children or individuals with disabilities. Must be at least 18 years of age. - Additional documents (required before employment):
Department of Justice fingerprint clearance, TB clearance, and required trainings.
- A benefit entitlement for health, dental, and vision coverage is available for positions that are at least 4 hours per day. The amount of the entitlement is based on the number of hours worked per day.
