Filling 1 Positon:

McCluer High - 1

A U.S. Army JROTC Instructor educates high school students in the principles and practices of military leadership, citizenship, and character development. They teach the JROTC curriculum, supervise extracurricular activities, and work with school officials to integrate the program into the school's overall mission. Instructors also counsel students, maintain records, and ensure the program's compliance with Army and U.S. Army Cadet Command (USACC) regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Instruction and Curriculum:
    • Develop and implement lesson plans based on the JROTC curriculum provided by the Army.
    • Teach various topics, including leadership, citizenship, character development, and military history.
    • Use a variety of instructional techniques to engage students.
  • Extracurricular

    Activities:

    • Supervise and organize activities such as color guard, drill teams, rifle teams, and other extracurricular programs.
    • Participate in community service projects and other events.
  • Student Counseling and Support:
    • Counsel students on their academic and military performance.
    • Maintain student records and communicate with parents as needed.
    • Mentor students on their academic and military goals.
  • Program Management:
    • Manage the JROTC unit in accordance with school rules and Army regulations.
    • Maintain accurate records of student progress and program activities.
    • Ensure the program is adequately staffed and resourced.
  • Community Relations:
    • Promote the JROTC program within the school and community.
    • Collaborate with school officials and community partners.
  • Additional Duties:
    • May act as hall monitor, chaperone, event security, or substitute teacher.
    • May be required to work weekend activities.
U.S. Army Cadet Command

Qualifications:
  • Army JROTC Instructor applicants must meet all U.S. Army Cadet Command (USACC) Eligibility requirements found at Before You Apply – U.S. Army JROTC.
  • Army JROTC Instructors must complete USACC Army JROTC Instructor application, certification and interview. Additional information can be found Application & Certification – U.S. Army JROTC.
  • ALL Army JROTC Instructor applicants must possess a Phase 1 Qualification memorandum from USACC before submitting an application with FFSD.
  • Upon completion of the FFSD application process, Army JROTC Instructor applicant(s) will receive an "Intent to Hire" letter for submission to USACC along with a request for the instructors' CNACI to be initiated.
  • Upon receiving a favorable CNACI from USACC, FFSD will submit necessary forms (DD 2767 & DD 2754) and Request to hire letter to USACC.
Teaching License:

A valid teaching license is required in the state where the JROTC unit is located.

Education:

An associate's degree is typically required, with a bachelor's degree preferred.

Leadership and Communication

Skills:

The ability to motivate and influence students, as well as effectively communicate with parents and school officials, is essential.

Organizational

Skills:

JROTC instructors need to be organized and detail-oriented to manage the program effectively.
