Job DescriptionRockwood School District is looking for a dynamic educational leader to shape the future of instruction as our next Director of Curriculum and Professional Learning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Oversee the development of the district’s K-12 curriculum and professional learning by ensuring common, collaborative processes for conducting curriculum program review, developing curriculum, selecting instructional resources, and providing professional learning opportunities for district staff
- Collaborate with the Teaching and Learning department and the district Professional Learning Committee to develop a comprehensive, differentiated professional learning program for all district staff that aligns with district strategic plan goals and district curriculum
- Develop the district's annual professional learning activities calendar in collaboration with the Teaching and Learning department
- Collaborate with district directors, coordinators, and principals to support instructional leadership and continuous improvement goals
- Stay current on curriculum, instructional strategy, and learning research to determine their appropriateness for inclusion in the district’s educational program
- Support district curriculum coordinators in developing professional learning associated with curriculum adoption
- Participate in the development of the district school calendar to ensure adequate professional learning time.
- Conduct an annual needs survey for teachers and administrators to identify adult learning needs
- Oversee and evaluate the performance of curriculum coordinators
- Ensure feedback opportunities for parents, teachers, and students are a systematic part of the curriculum development process
- Regularly review data to determine the effectiveness of the district’s curriculum and instructional practices.
- Support the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning in annual budget preparation
- Collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning to ensure that curriculum websites, graduation requirements, course enrollment guides, and other important information concerning the district’s curriculum are regularly reviewed and current
- Oversee the professional learning, the district teacher induction, and the mentor program
- Collaborate with leaders in curriculum and instruction at state, regional, and national levels
- Partner with institutions of higher learning and educational consultants to ensure that the curriculum prepares students for college and career readiness
- Master’s degree required, specialist degree preferred with appropriate graduate preparation in curriculum and professional learning and/or district leadership
- Missouri Administrator Certificate preferred and proven experience in the areas of continuous improvement, curriculum, and professional learning
- Demonstrated success at leading continuous improvement efforts, including the establishment of data priorities to raise student achievement
- Demonstrated success in curriculum development and implementation
- Experience with designing and implementing professional learning
- Demonstrated success in long-range planning
- Successful experience in teacher and administrator training helpful; comprehensive knowledge of the adult-learning process; strong in strategies of in-service training and instructional improvement
- Consistent and regular attendance is required
