Position Title: Social Worker
Status: 187 days – 7.12 hours a day
Position Summary: School social workers are trained mental health professionals who provide services to students, families, and staff across all tier levels of intervention to promote and support students’ academic and social success. They are the link between home, school, and community to provide direct and indirect services for the purpose of improving the overall learning experience for students.
Essential Functions- Provide crisis intervention and support to students in need. This can be on an individual, daily basis to support students that identify as being in a crisis and/or at a school level district response following a school wide crisis event
- Assist students with developing appropriate intervention strategies to increase academic and social success on an individual or small group level
- Implement and follow the Student Suicide Protocol to support at-risk students

Assist in identification and implementation of supports for students that qualify - Work collaboratively with parents/guardians, students, and school personnel to identify, develop, and implement appropriate interventions to support student’s safety, wellbeing, academic, and social success
- Develop, implement, and monitor school level systems used to identify students and families in need
- Promote family voice and choice
- Promote dignity and respect
- Work collaboratively with parents/guardians to access resources, referrals, and support as appropriate
- Establish and maintain relationships with community providers, resources, and referral sources to support all families
- Make home visits as needed in fulfilling the responsibilities noted above
- Support school teams to serve as the home, school, community linkages for at-risk students
- Provide professional development to school personnel around school social work services: student intervention best practices, McKinney Vento advocacy, mandated reporting, school policy around suicide safety, etc.
- Follow confidentiality requirements when working collaboratively with school personnel sharing information on a “need to know” basis to support a student’s academic success. Collaborate with parents/guardians and students on what they would like to share about their unique situation
- Follow confidentiality requirement exceptions for safety
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Ability to maintain effective and cooperative relationships with students, staff, and families
- Ability to move throughout school buildings as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities
- Ability to organize, work with details and follow through
- Possess personal interest in helping youth succeed
- Sound judgment on sensitive issues
- Stamina to handle challenging work schedules
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Understanding of youth development
- Master's degree in Social Work
