This position supports schools and districts across Sonoma County in delivering high-quality English Language Arts (ELA) and English Language Development (ELD) instruction for TK–12 students, with a strong focus on equitable outcomes for all learners. A successful candidate will have experience and a deep knowledge of ELA, ELD, and literacy development. This includes a strong understanding of the California ELA and ELD Standards, the California English Learner Roadmap, and familiarity with evidence-based practices, including the Science of Reading and Integrated/Designated ELD.
The Language & Literacy Project Coordinator will design and facilitate engaging, research‑aligned professional learning and support school and district leaders in building systems that promote culturally and linguistically responsive instruction.
- Coaching educators.
- Modeling effective instructional practices.
- Analyzing disaggregated data.
- Guiding implementation of comprehensive literacy and language initiatives.
- Appropriate California Administrative Services credential by July 1, 2026.
- Site or District level leadership is highly desired.
- Strong expertise in evidence-based literacy and language practices.
- Experience as a teacher leader and/or instructional coach is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of California ELA and ELD Standards, California English Learner Roadmap.
- Familiarity with evidence-based practices, including the Science of Reading and Integrated/Designated ELD.
- Master’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education is desired.
- In positions with progressively increasing responsibility and professional experience in the field of education.
- In staff development and/or in‑service training experience.
- In site and district leadership is highly desired.
- In leading professional learning.
- A valid California Multiple Subjects or Single Subject English Teaching Credential is preferred.
- A valid California Administrative Services Credential is required. This credential must be in place by July 1, 2026.
