Special Education Teacher; K-12

POSITION TITLE: Special Education Teacher (K-12)

QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Missouri teacher certification in Special Education. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Building or District Administrator

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Teacher contract days (minimum 173 plus additional contracted days) with benefits according to Board policy.

JOB GOAL: To assist students in learning the appropriate subject matter, skills, and/or attitudes that will contribute to their development as responsible citizens.

The West Platte School District, located in Weston, Missouri, is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as a Special Education teacher for the 2026-27 school year.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Choose and implement appropriate methodology;
• Apply varied instructional strategies that address the diversity of the learners;
• Provide continuous feedback to students and families;
• Communicate appropriately with students, parents, community, and staff;
• Use various ongoing assessments to monitor the effectiveness of instruction;
• Align the assessments with the goals, objectives, and instructional strategies of the district, implement Missouri Learning Standards, and effectively utilize instructional technology;
• Proper certification or proof of eligibility for certification is required.
• Additional assignments/coaching may be available.

COMPENSATION: West Platte 2025-26 base compensation is $46,500.

BENEFITS: The District provides 100% Board paid Health Insurance, 50% Board paid dental, 50% Board paid vision, and Board paid life insurance.
