MIDDLE SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

The Middle School Assistant Principal provides support and assistance in the instructional leadership, personnel management, and operations to the Middle School Principal to ensure a safe, welcoming, and effective learning environment. We seek a servant‑leader who models initiative, accountability, and a commitment to “Everyone Learning Every Day.”

Qualifications
  • Possess a valid Missouri Principal Certification or eligibility for certification
  • Pass the required background screening check.

Instructional Leadership Essential Functions and

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the principal in the overall administration of the Middle School.
  • Assist in the development, revision, and evaluation of curriculum as directed by the principal.
  • Complete teacher evaluations centered on using data and observations, monitoring performance against approved standards, student outcomes, providing mentorship, coaching and goal setting.
  • Assist in managing standard testing programs.
  • Assist in in‑service orientation and training of new staff members.
Culture And Climate
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining an effective learning climate.
  • Assist in maintaining high staff morale, a shared vision and promotion of a culture of collaboration and innovation.
Personnel & Operations
  • Assist with the daily supervision of the Middle School’s maintenance, transportation, custodial, food services, health services, and any other support services as directed by the principal.
  • Assume responsibilities for day‑to‑day operations, including discipline, scheduling, issuance or refusal of passes to those students wishing to leave the building while school is in session and excuse pre‑arranged absences.
  • Assume the responsibility for holding follow‑up parent conferences to resolve discipline, attendance or other related school issues.
  • Assist the principal in monitoring student attendance and investigate follow‑up actions as needed.
  • Assist in the development of rules and regulations necessary for the successful operation of the school with the help of the principal, teachers, counselors, and students. The rules and regulations shall be placed in the Middle School Student Handbook.
  • Be responsible for the operation of the Middle School during the absence of the principal.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build strong relationships with parents, community members, and the Board of Education to support student success.

Additional Duties:
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Middle School Principal and other Central Office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Terms Of Employment
  • 10.5 months; 213 contracted work days
  • Salary Schedule - Commensurate on experience and earned educational degree

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Principals.
