Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Correctional Education Program, the Senior Librarian is responsible for the functional supervision, operation, scheduling and collections of the institution’s law and general libraries. The Senior Librarian will coordinate, publish and distribute the hourly schedule for each library to ensure all incarcerated persons have access. The Senior Librarian will advise on compliance issues involving access for disabled incarcerated persons, collection maintenance and development, and other matters as required.
The Senior Librarian will prepare and submit purchase requisitions to maintain all compliance components of the law and general libraries.
- Coordinate and distribute library operating schedules.
- Advise supervisor on access and accommodation compliance.
- Submit purchase requisitions for library materials.
- Maintain and develop library collections.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Eligibility for state service; new applicants must meet examination requirements.
- Experience in library management and instruction in a correctional or institutional setting.
- Knowledge of library principles, supervision, and affirmative action program objectives.
- Ability to promote an equitable and inclusive workplace.
The position is located at the California State Prison in Corcoran, CA. The campus is accessible off Highway 43 and is within an hour of Lemoore Naval Air Station and Sequoias National Park. The correctional facility offers an on‑site fitness center.
