Macon R-1 School District is seeking compassionate and motivated Part-time Parents as Teacher Educators for the school year to support families and children.
The Parents as Teachers (PAT) Parent Educator provides parent education and family support services to families with children through kindergarten entry. The Parent Educator partners with families to promote optimal early development, school readiness, and strong parent-child relationships through personal home visits, group connections, developmental screenings, and resource networking.
Qualifications- Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Social Work, Education, or related field (or ability to obtain required PAT certification)
- Ability to complete and maintain Parents as Teachers Foundation Training and annual professional development requirements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Successful completion of background check
- Flexible schedule including evening availability
- Combination of office, home visit, and community-based settings
Preferred:
- Experience working with young children and families
- Knowledge of early childhood development and family systems
- Conduct regular personal home visits with assigned families following the Parents as Teachers Foundational Curriculum
- Develop and maintain supportive, strength-based relationships with families
- Provide developmentally appropriate information related to child growth, development and parenting practices
- Conduct required developmental health, vision and hearing screenings
- Plan and facilitate parent group meetings and family engagement activities
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of visits, screenings, and services
- Maintain confidentiality of family information
- Collaborate with district staff and community agencies to connect families with needed resources
- Participate in required PAT training and ongoing professional development
- Meet all program performance standards and state requirements
