Job DescriptionDistrict Mission Statement:

Qualifications- Associate’s degree or equivalent educational experience, with academic major in specific areas (food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family & consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field) and at least one year of relevant school nutrition programs experience; or a High School diploma (or GED) and at least 3 years of relevant experience in school nutrition programs.
Reports to: Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent
Supervises: Building Cooks
Job Goal: To provide guidance, direction, and supervision for the District Nutrition Services Program to ensure our students and staff are being provided nutritious, appealing meals in a welcoming environment.
Required Performance Responsibilities- Administer the food service program in a multiple-site program according to policies and procedures, and federal/state requirements.
- Supervise and train nutrition services personnel.
- Develop and maintain high standards of food preparation and service with emphasis on menu appeal and nutritional value.
- Maintain a purchasing system consistent with the USDA and state purchasing guidelines.
- Facilitate cooperation with education partners such as administrators, teachers, parents, and students.
- Enforce federal and state regulations regarding nutritional standards, reports and records.
- Prepare and interpret menus for each school site and forward to each office personnel.
- Provide menus accessible on the school website.
- Assess current research to develop a long‑range plan that facilitates continuous program improvement.
- Ensure that established sanitation and safety standards are being maintained.
- Maintain Serve Safe Certification Certificate.
- Plan menu adaptions for children with special needs.
- Maintain an efficient food service operation and high-quality food service staff by recruiting, selecting, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating all food service personnel.
- Order weekly food supplies for all schools in the district.
- File monthly lunch reports with DESE for reimbursement.
- Prepare and maintain all records for required audits and reviews.
- Prepare food bids and reviews when they have been received from distributors.
- Communicate regularly with Nutrition Kitchen Managers and all Nutrition Services Staff concerning menus, food preparation, sanitation, safety, and procedures.
- Coordinate all equipment maintenance and building repairs with the appropriate school district personnel.
- Collect free and reduced lunch forms from each building.
- Maintain a friendly and positive attitude with parents and patrons.
- Run free & reduced reports and send home qualification letters to parents. Submit reports and information to state offices.
- Participate in staff development activities.
- Analyze ways to improve daily operations.
11-month position. Salary to be established by the Board of Education.
EvaluationEach employee will be evaluated by his/her supervisor(s) on a regular basis according to evaluation procedures established by the Board of Education. Evaluations will be based on general expectations for all employees, and the specific responsibilities of the position being evaluated.
Physical, Mental and Visual DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. Additionally, the employee may occasionally be required to push or lift up to 50 lbs. as necessary for the safety and well‑being of others. Lastly, this job requires the employee to have the vision ability to read handwritten or typed materials, and meet multiple demands from several people while interacting with other staff and the public.
