Boating Specialists
(5 weeks Contract with a Start date of June 1, 2026)
About This OpportunityReporting to the Waterfront Director, the Boating Specialists will be responsible for supporting boating activities and water safety.
Responsibilities- Swim/Boat Tests: At the start of each camp, a list of campers is provided to the waterfront staff and those who have not been tested in the water must do so. The Waterfront Director and/or Senior Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring all testing is done.
- Hours:
Waterfront staff work as a team at the lakefront from 9 am to 4:30 pm daily, with scheduled breaks and lunch. A weekly schedule by campsite is provided with details for each day. - Meals:
For summer camp season, Deer campsite is scheduled to host the waterfront staff for breakfast and lunch. Supper destinations are determined by the food coordinators and camp director. It is a very fun time for the staff, and they are expected to interact with the campers. - Rainy Days:
Waterfront staff are responsible for the campers on their schedule when the weather is not good for water activities. Games, songs, skits... can all be organized inside Stavert Lodge or inside the boat house. - Weekly Regatta: A half day camp regatta day will be scheduled for each week; the waterfront staff is responsible for planning and implementing the event. (Guiders are always eager to assist)
- Adheres to all relevant policies, procedures, and practices.
- Provide general, ongoing support to members/volunteers, responding to/directing inquiries and consulting with the appropriate groups and individuals to support the mission and vision of GGC.
- Apply organizational policies regarding diversity, inclusivity and equity to content, member communication and customer service.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements- Be at least 16 years of age or provincial/territorial minimum age standard.
- Hold a valid ‘Calm Water-level 2’ certification.
- Current Standard First Aid is an asset.
- Must demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of Safe Guide procedures for water activities.
Hourly Salary: $16.60
This position will remain open until filled. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis. Submissions without a cover letter will not be considered.
