Position: Paraprofessional PreK-12 (25-26)
Location: Hillsboro

Paraprofessional PreK-12 (25-26) – Hillsboro R‑III School District

Salary: $17.00 – $21.20/hr, depending on education and years of experience.

Position Summary

Assist teachers in providing instruction, guided practice, assessments, remediation and enrichment. Ensure a positive, successful educational experience for all students and help students acquire the grade‑level expectation set by Missouri Department of Education and Hillsboro R‑3 curriculum.

Essential Duties
  • Provide clerical assistance to assigned teacher (photocopies, laminating, preparing books, games, typing letters and other teaching materials, recordkeeping).
  • Supervise children during lunchroom duty, help students to their seats, maintain the noise level and correct misbehavior.
  • Assist teachers in instructing students, working one‑on‑one or in groups using lecture, demonstration, audiovisual aids and other materials.
  • Aid students with lessons, correct homework and provide positive feedback and constructive criticism.
  • Administer tests, collect data when requested by the teacher.
  • Enforce rules for behavior and maintain order among students for whom the paraprofessional is responsible.
  • Maintain classroom discipline and recognize students with medical, physical or psychological issues and refer to District specialists as required.
  • Monitor students during instruction and independent work to ensure understanding of material.
Marginal Duties
  • Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, mentor programs and training workshops as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Assist in maintaining a physically and aesthetically attractive classroom setting and proper care of school equipment.
  • Share supervision responsibility for students in all areas and school activities (monitoring between classes).
  • Perform additional tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Teacher and/or Principal.
Qualifications
  • High School Degree or equivalent.
  • ECC/Primary/Elementary Buildings: 60 College Credit Hours or Frontline Course Certification or Para Professional test.
Physical Demands
  • Frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds; frequent repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movements; stoop, kneel, crawl; move up or down from/to sitting position.
Mental Demands
  • Maintain confidentiality; communicate clearly orally and in writing.
Environmental Conditions
  • Moderate noise levels; exposure to loud noise while on lunch and recess duty.
  • Regular exposure to varying inclement outdoor weather conditions while on recess duty.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous bodily fluids.
