Location: North Callaway Elementary (District-Wide Responsibilities)
The District Literacy Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, and support for the implementation of literacy instruction across the North Callaway R-1 School District. This role ensures alignment with Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) requirements, district goals, and the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP). The Literacy Coordinator collaborates with administrators, teachers, and support staff to improve student literacy outcomes through data-driven decision-making, professional learning, and effective instructional practices.
ResponsibilitiesStrategic Planning and Compliance
- Develop, implement, and monitor the District Comprehensive Literacy Plan in alignment with DESE requirements and state law.
- Stay informed of DESE guidance, updates, and legislative requirements related to literacy initiatives.
- Ensure alignment between the Comprehensive Literacy Plan and the CSIP to support continuous district improvement.
- Coordinate and complete literacy assessments for newly enrolled students within 30 days, in compliance with state requirements.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze i-Ready literacy data to evaluate the effectiveness of district literacy programs and instructional practices.
- Review and analyze RTI data to ensure effective implementation of literacy interventions.
- Generate reports to assess the effectiveness of Tier 1 literacy instruction and identify areas for instructional improvement.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Reading Success Plans for all students, ensuring progress monitoring and documentation.
Collaboration and Instructional Support
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and manage i-Ready assessment schedules in compliance with state requirements.
- Work closely with literacy teachers and administrators to support consistent and effective implementation of literacy initiatives.
- Provide instructional resources and guidance for all RTI literacy groups.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
- Partner with the special education department to share and analyze student data and support coordinated instructional planning.
Professional Learning and Capacity Building
- Stay current on research-based literacy practices, instructional strategies, and assessment tools.
- Provide professional development, training, and instructional resources to teachers to strengthen literacy instruction.
- Provide onboarding and training support for new teachers related to district literacy expectations and practices.
- Support teachers participating in LETRS training through coaching, resources, and implementation guidance.
- Missouri teaching certification with a strong background in literacy instruction.
- Experience in literacy coaching, intervention, or curriculum leadership preferred.
- Strong data analysis, collaboration, and communication skills.
