CYS Training Specialist NF

Summary

Position located at the Fort Leonard Wood Family Child Care Center (FCC).

• Must work at least 15 hours per week.
• US citizen, US national, or foreign national who has lived in the US or its territory for at least 3 continuous years preceding the start of federal affiliation.

• First child: 100% discount (all CYS employees).
• Second and subsequent children: 25% discount (all CYS employees).

• Plan and implement a comprehensive training and professional development program for children and youth, following all applicable regulations and standards.
• Design, administer, and conduct foundation, annual, and ongoing training requirements based on course outlines, in both classroom and on-the-job settings.
• Design and execute annual CYS program plans, including training goals, curriculum framework, and individualized staff development.
• Observe staff in appropriate program settings to assess competency and provide timely feedback.
• Manage program budget, analyze variances, and prepare justifications for program resource requests.

• Direct deposit and Social Security Card required.
• Meet qualification, eligibility, and background investigation requirements for federal employment.
• One‑year probationary period may be required.
• Successful completion of the Army Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
• Maintain current health assessment, including immunizations as required by DoD policy.
• Travel to on‑post and off‑post locations required.

Education (must be directly related to the position):

• Bachelor’s degree or higher with at least 24 semester hours in child development, child psychology, childhood education, or a closely related field.
• For early childhood or elementary education positions, a degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Elementary Education is required.

Experience:

• At least 12 months of experience working in child and youth programs.
• At least one year of experience at or above the next lower grade level for this position.
• Experience in planning and conducting staff training.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, analyze problems, identify solutions, and communicate effectively.
