Essential Functions of Position
  • Providing instruction in commercial truck driving on the Madera Community College campus and/or at off‑site community campus locations, including technical training instruction in truck driver skill competencies, basic operation, safe operating procedures, advanced operating procedures, vehicle maintenance, non‑vehicle activities, State license preparation, basic computer skills, customer service skills, and job preparedness.
  • Teaching a full schedule of developmental and transfer level Truck Driving Licensing courses as assigned.
  • Serving as the Program Coordinator and Lead faculty for the Truck Driver Training program.
  • Developing not‑for‑credit (initially) and credit programs to meet the workforce needs in Commercial Truck Driver Training.
  • Providing classroom, simulator, and road (range) instruction in the Truck Driver Training Program.
  • Conducting training on a flexible schedule and in traditional and non‑traditional format, including online (if feasible).
  • Teaching theory and hands‑on skills.
  • Assessing and evaluating student skills and knowledge.
  • Documenting performance and progression of students and collecting data on student learning outcomes.
  • Recommending and implementing actions to assist students to accomplish goals.
  • Maintaining complete and accurate attendance and training records.
  • Participating in marketing the program and recruiting students.
  • Maintaining relations with Industrial Advisory Board and Technical Team members.
  • Maintaining currency with emerging trends in assigned area.
  • Teaching both lecture and laboratory classes in one or more of the above areas.
  • As lead faculty for the Truck Driving Program, responsible for building connections with local and regional industry and adult education partners, organizing the industry advisory board and working with various stakeholders.
  • Evaluating adjunct instructors and collecting data on student learning outcomes.
  • Curriculum and program development and/or revision, including program review and the development and assessment of student learning outcomes for courses and programs to improve student learning.
  • Participating in the accreditation process.
  • Collaborating with discipline faculty and across the college to implement guided pathways concepts in order to promote student success and completion.
  • Communicating effectively with students and staff and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Participating in appropriate professional meetings and workshops.
  • Developing classroom presentations using multimedia tools.
  • Participating in student recruiting activities.
  • Serving on and attending department, college, and district committees as needed.
  • Participating in program review, student learning outcome development and assessment to improve student learning.
  • Teaching assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evening and/or weekends, online or off‑campus and large group instruction classes as needed.
  • Otherwise fulfilling all of the duties and responsibilities of faculty as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity‑minded practice within the classroom; and

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of closely related experience; or
  • Associate’s degree and six years of closely related experience; or
  • A valid California Community College Credential; or
  • The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).
