Pattonville School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated 7th Grade ELA/ Social Studies Teacher to join our team. PositionSummary
The 7th Grade ELA/Social Studies Teacher, under the general supervision of the school principal, develops students' knowledge and understanding of world cultures, historical and geographical influences, and the social, political, and economic systems that shape societies and their interrelationships. The position also develops students' skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing; fosters effective communication; and promotes an appreciation of literature and informational texts.
Through engaging, standards-aligned instruction, the ELA/Social Studies Teacher encourages critical thinking, research skills, and the ability to analyze and apply knowledge to understand diverse perspectives and real-world contexts.
- Designs and delivers ELA and social studies curriculum aligned with district goals, objectives, and instructional standards.
- Teaches language arts skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening, to develop critical thinking, analysis, and communication.
- Teaches social studies content, including history, civics, geography, economics, and cultural studies, promoting understanding of civic responsibility and global awareness.
- Designs learning activities that connect literacy and social studies concepts to real-world applications and problem-solving.
- Provides high-quality instruction using appropriate instructional materials and strategies to maximize student learning and instructional time.
- Monitors and assesses student progress regularly and adjusts instruction to meet individual learning needs.
- Implements district-adopted curriculum, instructional resources, and assessments with fidelity.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and timely records of student achievement, grading, and attendance in accordance with district and building procedures and policies.
- Establishes and maintains a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that supports whole-group, small-group, and individualized instruction.
- Builds and maintains effective communication with students and parents/guardians to encourage family engagement and support student success.
- Implements and enforces school and district behavior expectations to promote a positive and effective learning environment.
- Collaborates professionally with colleagues, performs assigned building duties, and participates in required staff meetings, professional learning communities, and district/building initiatives.
- Engages in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices, instructional strategies, and developments in ELA and social studies education.
- Selects and requisitions appropriate instructional materials and learning tools consistent with district curriculum requirements.
- Bachelors or masters degree from an accredited college or university.
- Missouri Elementary Certification 1-6 certification.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Work Hours:
7.25 hours per day; 5 days per week.
Work calendar: 189 days (current calendar).
FLSA Status:
Exempt.
Salary:
Commensurate with years of full-time teaching experience. Service credit is awarded on a year-by-year basis, with a maximum of 20 years recognized. (Certified Teacher Salary Schedule ).
Candidates who have signed a contract for the school year should consult with their current district to confirm eligibility for release prior to applying.
