Pattonville School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated 8th grade Mathematics/Science Teacher to join our team. Position SummaryThe Mathematics/Science Teacher, under the general supervision of the school principal, is responsible for developing students’ skills and competence in mathematics and scientific concepts, critical thinking, and problem-solving. This position promotes understanding of mathematical and scientific principles and their application to real-world situations through engaging, standards-aligned instruction, hands‑on learning experiences, and differentiated teaching strategies that meet the diverse needs of all students.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Develops and administers mathematics curriculum aligned with district goals and objectives.
- Promotes a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that supports individualized and small‑group instruction.
- Plans and delivers lesson plans that translate into meaningful learning experiences, develop sequential assignments, challenge students, and effectively utilize instructional time.
- Teaches mathematics knowledge and skills, including concepts such as real and imaginary numbers, formulas, calculations, and geometry, while fostering creative thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Designs learning activities that demonstrate the real‑world application of mathematics and science concepts, including research projects, demonstrations, experiments, and laboratory activities.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, modifying instructional methods to meet individual student needs, and provides targeted individual or small‑group instruction as needed.
- Implements district curriculum and assessments to ensure alignment with educational standards.
- Engages in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices, instructional strategies, and developments in the field of education through seminars, workshops, department/district meetings, and independent research.
- Maintains accurate and complete records of student achievement, grading, and attendance in accordance with district and building policies.
- Encourages parental involvement and maintains effective communication with students, parents, and guardians.
- Ensures that student behavior meets school and district standards, establishing and maintaining a positive and effective learning environment.
- Performs assigned building duties with professionalism and collaboration, and participates in required district and building meetings and professional development activities.
- Selects, requisitions, and effectively utilizes instructional materials and learning resources consistent with district curriculum.
- Bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Missouri Math 5‑9 certification/ Missouri Science 5‑9 certification.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal(s).
Travel Requirements- Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
- Knowledge of elementary school reading curriculum and concepts.
- Ability to use learning software applications as needed.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and their parents/guardians.
- Ability to engage in self‑evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.

FLSA StatusExempt.
SalaryCommensurate with years of full‑time teaching experience. Service credit is awarded on a year‑by‑year basis, with a maximum of 20 years recognized. (Certified Teacher Salary Schedule 2026‑2027).
