Truck Driving Licensing Instructor (Full‑time, Tenure‑track) – Madera Community College
This full‑time, tenure‑track position offers an opportunity to teach Commercial Truck Driving and to lead our Truck Driver Training program. The successful candidate will serve as a faculty leader with responsibilities in instruction, curriculum development, program coordination, and student support, while contributing to the mission of Madera Community College to provide high‑quality, inclusive education.
Essential Functions- Teach a full schedule of developmental and transfer‑level Truck Driving Licensing courses, including theory, practice, vehicle maintenance, and state‑license preparation.
- Serve as Program Coordinator and Lead faculty for the Truck Driver Training program and actively build partnerships with industry.
- Develop non‑credit and credit programs to meet workforce needs, coordinate curriculum and assessment, and participate in accreditation processes.
- Deliver instruction in classroom, simulator, and road range settings; provide flexible, online, and non‑traditional instruction when feasible.
- Assess and evaluate student performance, retain accurate attendance and training records, and report learning outcomes.
- Participate in marketing, recruitment, and student success activities, including the implementation of Guided Pathways concepts.
- Collaborate with faculty across the college, engage in professional development, and serve on institutional committees as required.
- Evidence of commitment to equity‑minded practice in the classroom.
- Bachelor’s degree and two years of closely related experience, or an associate’s degree and six years of closely related experience, or a valid California Community College Credential, or an equivalent education/experience.
- For candidates with degrees that differ from those listed, a petition for equivalency must be submitted.
- Experience integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion into instruction and program.
- Recent background working with racially minoritized students and addressing equity in the classroom.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently, and experience with learning management systems.
- Evidence of innovative teaching practices and curriculum development.
- Knowledge of small‑college settings and the California Community College mission and goals.
Minimum 178 duty days per year.
Salary and BenefitsA starting annual salary ranges from $71,054 to $106,970, depending on education and experience. A doctoral stipend of $2,419 is available. The district provides medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, and employees are enrolled in the CalSTRS retirement system.
Selection ProcedureApplications will be screened for completeness and minimum qualifications. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview and will be evaluated on their record of teaching, program leadership, and commitment to student success. Final hiring recommendations will be made by the President and approved by the Board of Trustees.
