The Science Teacher, under the general supervision of the school principal(s), promotes student learning by fostering critical and creative thinking through engaging, inquiry-based instruction. The position designs and delivers science lessons and hands‑on learning experiences aligned with district curriculum, supports individual and small‑group instruction to meet diverse learning needs, and maintains a safe and supportive learning environment. The Science Teacher monitors and documents student progress and communicates effectively with students, parents/guardians, and administrators regarding learning outcomes, expectations, and instructional goals.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Promotes critical and creative thinking, inquiry, and analysis through engaging, standards‑aligned instruction.
- Establishes and maintains a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment conducive to individualized and small‑group instruction.
- Develops and implements lesson plans and instructional materials that translate into meaningful learning experiences and maximize instructional time.
- Designs and facilitates science‑based learning activities, including research projects, demonstrations, experiments, and laboratory experiences, to support conceptual understanding and application.
- Monitors and assesses student learning and progress on an ongoing basis to inform instructional decisions.
- Differentiates instruction and provides individual and small‑group support to meet diverse student learning needs.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and timely records of student achievement, grading, and attendance in accordance with district and building procedures and policies.
- Builds and maintains effective communication with students and parents/guardians to encourage family engagement and support student learning.
- Implements and enforces school and district behavior expectations to promote a positive and effective learning environment.
- Collaborates with colleagues and participates in faculty meetings, professional learning communities, and committees as assigned.
- Selects and utilizes appropriate instructional materials, resources, and tools consistent with district curriculum requirements.
- Engages in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices, instructional strategies, and developments in the educational field.
- Bachelors or masters degree from an accredited college or university.
- Missouri Biology 9‑12 certification
- Missouri General/Unified Science or Physics 9‑12 certification
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Travel Requirements- Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
- Knowledge of elementary school reading curriculum and concepts.

Work Hours:
7.25 hours per day; 5 days per week
Work calendar: 189 days (current calendar)
FLSA Status:
Exempt
Salary:
Commensurate with years of full-time teaching experience. Service credit is awarded on a year‑by‑year basis, with a maximum of 20 years recognized. (Certified Teacher Salary Schedule )
Candidates who have signed a contract for the 2026‑2027 school year should consult with their current district to confirm eligibility for release prior to applying.
