Qualifications
Candidates must currently hold or be eligible to obtain
* a Missouri Career Education Teaching Certificate in Graphic Design.
Eligibility for the Career Education Certificate includes one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university plus 4,000 hours of Department-approved, closely related occupational experience obtained within the past 10 years; or
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university plus 5,000 hours of Department-approved, closely related occupational experience obtained within the past 10 years; or
- No degree with 6,000 hours of Department-approved, closely related occupational experience obtained within the past 10 years.
- Obtaining certification may require approximately 18 hours of coursework.
The Graphic Design Instructor provides hands-on, industry-aligned instruction in graphic design and visual communication to high school juniors and seniors. This position prepares students for postsecondary education, industry certification, apprenticeships, or immediate employment by teaching both technical design skills and professional workplace expectations.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Curriculum
- Plan and deliver engaging, project-based instruction aligned with state CTE standards and current industry practices
- Teach core graphic design concepts, including:
- Design principles (layout, color theory, typography, branding)
- Digital imaging and illustration
- Visual communication and marketing design
- Instruct students in industry-standard software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or comparable design tools
The Table Rock Career Center
, located in Reeds Spring, Missouri—approximately 30 minutes from Springfield and near scenic Table Rock Lake—serves ten (10) area sending schools. The Reeds Spring R-IV School District supports the communities of Reeds Spring, Branson West, Kimberling City, Cape Fair, and Indian Point.
