Position Summary
The Los Rios Community College District is seeking a qualified candidate for a full‑time faculty coordinator assignment in the Learning Resource Center (LRC) at American River College. The LRC Tutoring Faculty Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, and instructional support for the college's tutoring and academic support services, including embedded tutoring and collaboration with instructional and student services areas.
Under the supervision of the Dean of Library and Learning Resources, the faculty member will coordinate tutoring services; support college‑wide equity and student success initiatives; engage in curriculum development; and participate in faculty governance and professional responsibilities as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.
This position plays a key role in strengthening the integration of tutoring within instructional programs, expanding embedded tutoring, and supporting innovative, equity‑informed academic support for ARC students.
This position is a 100% coordination assignment and may also involve teaching a course in this discipline resulting in an overload assignment. Instructional assignments may include, but are not limited to, one or more of the following courses: LRC 300:
Introduction to Tutor Training (1‑unit).

Typical DutiesTypical duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinating, directing, and overseeing LRC tutoring services in collaboration with instructional and student services areas.
- Planning, organizing, and supervising daily tutoring operations, including staffing, scheduling, and service delivery.
- Recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating student tutors.
- Working collaboratively with classified professionals in the LRC to provide comprehensive tutoring support to students.
- Leading, maintaining, and updating tutor training curriculum to align with best practices in learning assistance and peer education.
- Providing ongoing professional development for student tutors using research‑based and culturally responsive strategies.
- Leading the development, implementation, and expansion of embedded tutoring in coordination with faculty and instructional departments.
- Working with faculty to design embedded tutoring placements that support course success and student learning outcomes.
- Supporting and evaluating embedded tutors to ensure effective instructional alignment and student support.
- Ensuring tutoring services reflect equity‑minded practices and meet the academic needs of diverse student populations.
- Collaborating with instructional and student services teams to provide coordinated, equitable academic support for disproportionately impacted student groups.
- Working with institutional research and effectiveness teams to assess tutoring effectiveness, service utilization, and student learning outcomes.
- Using qualitative and quantitative data to guide program design, resource planning, and continuous improvement.
- Reviewing, evaluating, and recommending tutoring tools, materials, and technologies that support student learning.
- Supporting the integration of tutoring into academic pathways, learning communities, and co‑curricular initiatives.
- Promoting tutoring services through outreach, class presentations, and digital communication.
- Maintaining accurate and accessible tutoring information across web, print, and communication channels.
- Making budget recommendations and assigning resources, including purchases and allocation of materials necessary for tutoring operations.
- Identifying, pursuing, and collaborating on the development, reporting, and implementation of grant‑funded opportunities that enhance tutoring programs.
