DESCRIPTION

The Center for Student Accountability, Growth, and Education (SAGE) leads and manages the UC San Diego non-academic student conduct, and alternative resolution programs. SAGE collaborates with the undergraduate Colleges, residential areas, Student Life, graduate and professional schools, faculty and academic departments, Intercollegiate Athletics, and greater University community with regard to student conduct and student welfare matters.

SAGE is responsible for the development, revision, and coordination of student conduct related policies, including the UC Policy on Student Conduct and Discipline, UC San Diego Student Conduct Procedures, Medical Amnesty Program, and University Alcohol Policy. SAGE facilitates ongoing comprehensive student conduct, and alternative resolution related training for staff, students, and faculty. Additionally, the office develops and maintains comprehensive statistical and narrative data regarding all aspects of the key processes and procedures and engages in regular assessment of student conduct departmental processes.

Reporting to the Associate Director – Student Conduct & Restorative Justice, the Conduct and Compliance Coordinator coordinates and manages key aspects of departmental programs. Serves as a University Student Conduct Officer to process, investigate, and resolve non-academic student conduct cases, residential life community contacts, and student compliance incidents for individual Students and Registered Student Organizations. Serves as Alternative Resolution Facilitator to manage and resolve sensitive and complex interpersonal issues lending to a restorative resolution.

Provides consultation, advice, and assistance to students, staff, and faculty about student-related policies, procedures, and guidance. Develops and facilitates trainings, workshops, and outreach events about departmental programs. The Coordinator may manage and coordinate Student Conduct Reviews and Title IX Hearings and may manage and process sanction reduction requests and appeals for non-academic and Title IX cases. Provides consultation, advice, and assistance to students, staff, and faculty about policies, procedures, and guidance, specifically around Title IX issues.

Coordinate sanction programs for the department as time allows.

This position will be a part of the UAW union moving forward.

  • Hybrid work schedule: 2 days in the office, 3 days remote.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, organizing, and delivering workshops and training sessions; proficient public speaking and presentation skills. Proficient experience and understanding of student learning outcomes assessment.

  • Proficient understanding of the developmental and educational context in which the student conduct process is administered and managed. Knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.

  • Proficient utilizing student conduct databases, student information systems, and Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.

  • Proficient knowledge and awareness of the interrelationship of student conduct policy and governmental laws with student development. Understanding of University rules and regulations. Ability to follow University policies, federal and state regulations, and case law related to student conduct and student compliance, including FERPA, Clery Act and Title IX.

  • Knowledge of University processes and procedures.

  • Interpersonal skills. Superb interpersonal skills to successfully interact with a variety of people and offices, at all levels of the university community.

  • Skills in service orientation, active listening, critical thinking. Ability to maintain composure, diffuse client anger and anxiety with tact and diplomacy, and be able to follow up consistently on all assignments and pending matters.

  • Abilities in problem identification, reasoning. Excellent organizational abilities, project management skills, and analytical and problem-solving skills, including synthesis of information, consideration of alternatives, ability to prioritize and decide among alternative actions, based on partial information. Possess skill to independently interpret and follow written policies and protocols when resolving issues.
