Financial Aid Specialist - 79737
St. Charles Community College (SCC), founded in 1986, is a respected two‑year institution serving a six‑county region in Missouri. We are seeking a full‑time Financial Aid Specialist who will serve as the primary contact for the Financial Aid Department. The Specialist will assist students and parents with all types of Federal, State, and institutional financial aid, and will help process and verify aid files.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the Federal Student Aid Handbook and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Advise prospective and continuing students on financial aid application procedures, verification processes, eligibility requirements, and policy information.
- Assist students with documentation required for verification and incomplete files to determine aid eligibility.
- Perform verification on selected student financial aid files.
- Update Satisfactory Academic Progress information for individual students.
- Import ISIR from the Department of Education, manage corrections, and handle COD records.
- Handle confidential material and communications in accordance with FERPA.
- Run daily financial aid reports.
- Assist at the front counter and work directly with students.
60 college semester credit hours or 18 months of full‑time related experience and/or training in processing student financial aid at the postsecondary level, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred QualificationsAn Associate degree and two years of full‑time experience processing student financial aid at the postsecondary level.
