Teach physics courses covering mechanics, heat, optics, electromagnetism, and modern physics to engineering, science, and non-science majors at the freshman and sophomore undergraduate level, along with related courses to a diverse student population. Participate in curriculum development, serve on department, division, college and district committees, and engage in professional development activities. Support student success through co-curricular activities, formulate Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs), maintain office hours, and stay current with instructional methods and technologies.

Conduct scheduled classes, comply with clerical responsibilities, and collaborate with staff and students. Evening and/or weekend assignments may be required.

The award of all degrees must be verifiable on a legible transcript. Grade cards will not be accepted in lieu of transcripts. All degrees and course work used to satisfy the required minimum qualifications must be submitted and from accredited postsecondary institutions. Evaluations of foreign degrees and/or course work are required.

• Master’s in physics, astronomy, or astrophysics
• OR Bachelor’s in physics or astronomy AND Master’s in engineering, mathematics, meteorology, or geophysics
• OR Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area
• OR Equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District Equivalency Committee.

• Recent experience in teaching undergraduate physics courses.
• Experience developing and teaching laboratory curriculum in physics, including mechanics and electromagnetism.
• Experience in managing and growing a physics program.
• Commitment to community college education and student success.
• Experience in developing and teaching online courses.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Experience designing and teaching curricula responsive to the needs of historically underrepresented or marginalized students.

Salary Range: $85,541 - $128,379 Annually
