Overview

Co-teacher (Kinder, First, Second and Third Grade) – Full-time position at Foundation Prep.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in creating a positive, achievement-oriented, and structured learning environment that excites and invests students in learning.
  • Motivate students to realize high academic achievements in a literacy-focused setting with over 200 minutes daily dedicated to literacy; design and implement unit and lesson plans in collaboration with grade-level or content-level teams to challenge students and support different learning styles.
  • Assist in building classroom community by investing students in academic success and developing the Foundation Prep FIRST values (Focus, Integrity, Respect, Self-discipline, and Teamwork); contribute to a classroom culture aligned with the Foundation Prep Way and restorative practices.
  • Utilize data from daily, weekly, and interim assessments to drive instruction and interventions; analyze data and adjust lessons and groups to meet student needs.
  • Participate enthusiastically in structured and informal professional development opportunities; collaborate with coaches, grade-level chairs, and school teams to improve instructional, culture-building, and leadership skills.
  • Exemplify Foundation Prep’s core values in interactions with students, families and colleagues; build relationships with students and their families and engage with school partners.
Qualifications

Required

  • Certification or progress toward certification to be a highly qualified teacher in the state of Louisiana.
  • An incredible work ethic and a passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven, joyful school culture.
  • Ability to grow strong instructional and classroom management skills.

Highly Preferred:

  • High level of personal organization and planning.
  • Experience in diverse classrooms.
  • Proficiency in Spanish or Vietnamese.
  • Desire to have a long-term career in education.
Additional Notes

Co-teachers receive weekly coaching from leadership staff, daily real-time coaching from Coach, and mentoring from Lead teacher to hone instructional and management skills. Candidates should have or be working toward teaching certification and be committed to staying in the classroom and growing to lead their own class as the school expands.
