Job Summary

To provide instruction, guided practice, assessments, remediation, and enrichment through a variety of learning opportunities and ensure a positive, successful educational experience for students. Ensures that all students acquire the grade level expectation skills set forth by Missouri Department of Education and Hillsboro R-3 curriculum.

Essential Duties
  • Develop a program of study that meets individual needs, interests and abilities of students.
  • Instruct students by lecturing, demonstrating, and using audiovisual aids and other materials.
  • Prepare course objectives and outlines following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school.
  • Assign lessons, correct homework, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Administer tests to evaluate student progress, record results, and issue reports or conduct meetings with parents.
  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order.
  • Keep attendance records and maintain discipline in the classroom.
  • Recognize and refer students encountering medical or psychological problems to district specialists.
  • Maintain communication and build relationships with parents.
Marginal Duties
  • Participate in faculty and professional meetings, conferences, mentor programs, and teacher training workshops.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees.
  • Plan and supervise teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Support co-curricular activities and student organizations.
  • Assist in curriculum and personnel decisions.
  • Maintain a safe and aesthetically attractive classroom and supervise students outside class.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise 2 or more employees (Teacher’s Aide and volunteers).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university.
  • Missouri State Teaching Certificate.
Physical Demands
  • Frequent lifting and moving up to 10 pounds; repetitive hand and finger movements; stooping, kneeling, crawling, and moving between sitting and standing positions.
Mental Demands
  • Maintain confidentiality; communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
Environmental Conditions
  • Exposure to loud noise levels and variable outdoor weather conditions while on recess duty.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous bodily fluids.
