- Substitute Position* - $20.50

If you have less than 5 days of availability (Monday - Friday) you may be considered for a substitute position.
Monitor Student Learning in an After School Program Environment
- Monitor and mentor student learning activities daily.
- Develop lesson plans and establish clear objectives for each day.
- Submit lesson plans to Teaching Fellows, ensuring target standards are met.
- Provide individual and group tutoring.
- Prepare reports to track student progress and accomplishments.
- Enforce behavioral rules and procedures to maintain order.
- Observe and evaluate student performance and behavior.
- Ensure equipment and materials are used properly.
Communication & Safety
- Foster good communication with fellow tutors, teachers, and with the California Teaching Fellows Foundation.
- Collaborate with other tutors on lesson planning and program goals.
- Ensure student safety and supervise all of their activities.
- Follow emergency procedures set forth by Teaching Fellows and/or school districts.
- Report any incidents promptly to the site lead, school administration, or local authorities.
Perform Other Duties as Assigned
- Attend monthly staff meetings (Teaching Fellow Academies) once a month and training as scheduled.
- Offer opinions and suggestions on program decisions.
- Adhere to any directives given by site lead, assistant site lead, or liaison.
- 18 years old or older
- Have obtained a high school diploma or GED equivalent
- Completion of 48 college units or passage of an approved exam, if applicable, to meet the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) requirements.
- Proficiency in the English language, including spelling, grammar, and composition; ability to speak multiple languages is recognized as beneficial but not required.
- General understanding of educational standards and the public school system.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Willingness to undergo background checks and Tuberculosis exam.
- Ability to lead and motivate others.
- Excellent organization and time management.
- High ethical standards and cultural sensitivity.
- Desire to foster educational aspirations and goals in youth.
