JOB SUMMARY
The Title I Transitional Teacher at Marygrove will provide supplemental academic services and facilitate student achievement by helping students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES- Facilitate student achievement.
Examples of Work Performed
:
- Meets and provide supplemental academic support and targeted interventions to assigned students in any K-12 grade level upon request.
- Creates an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Assesses students’ current academic levels.
- Plans and delivers lesson plans and interventions aligned with students’ needs and HSD curriculum guidelines.
- Establishes clear objectives for all lessons and intervention sessions and communicates these objectives to students.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Integrates socio-emotional learning skills and self-management.
- Monitors student achievement.
Examples of Work Performed
:
- Works with students to discuss strategies and interventions to facilitate a positive transition to new HSD schools or back to school from suspension.
- Collaborates with colleagues, staff at Marygrove and HSD, and therapists to discuss students’ progress, concerns, and needs.
- Coordinates and/or attends student support meetings at Marygrove and multiple HSD schools.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
Examples of Work Performed:
- Attends Marygrove and Lusher Elementary professional development and campus training sessions.
- Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Assists the administration at HSD and Marygrove in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Make provisions for being available to students for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Education – bachelor’s degree and a Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Teaching Certification. Certificate issued by Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Broad knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment;
Extensive knowledge of Missouri Learning Standards;
Knowledge of various instructional delivery models;
Knowledge of research-based and evidence-based instructional strategies. Knowledge of socio-emotional learning skills.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Requires evidence of improving student achievement;
Training and practical experience in instructional management and effective teaching models
