General Summary

Identify, support and instruct students that are Deaf and Hard of Hearing with identified educational needs.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and participate in the identification, assessment, instructional planning and referral process of D/HH students.
  • Assess students initially and triennially in the areas of academic achievement, listening behavior, language, and communication and make recommendations for Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives in corresponding areas.
  • Participate with members of the IEP team (parents, teachers, principals and other staff, psychologists, nurses, audiologists, and Hearing Aid Dealers) to provide the students appropriate services.
  • Plan and implement instructional supports for students to meet assessed student needs while integrating IEP goals and objectives.
  • Provide and monitor specialized materials and/or equipment for students for use in the classroom.
Knowledge,

Skills And Abilities

Required
  • Possession of a valid California Credential:
    Education Specialist, Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
  • Verification of Passing Score Basic Skills Test or CBEST.
  • Possession of a valid California driver's License if required by the duties of the assignment.
  • Experience and/or training appropriate to fulfill requirements of the position.
