The Moniteau County R-1 School District (California, MO) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled High School Agriculture Teacher with a strong background in agricultural mechanics, machinery, structures, design, and construction
. This position will lead instruction in hands‑on, project‑based courses that prepare students for careers in agriculture, skilled trades, engineering, and construction fields while supporting a strong FFA program.
The ideal candidate is passionate about experiential learning, safety, and workforce readiness and is committed to helping students develop technical skills, problem‑solving abilities, and leadership qualities.
Primary Responsibilities- Teach high school agriculture courses with emphasis on agricultural mechanics and power systems, fabrication and metalworking, design, drafting, and construction principles, and tool and shop safety.
- Develop and implement engaging, standards‑based curriculum aligned with Missouri CTE and agriculture education standards.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and well‑managed shop.
- Supervise and advise students in the FFA program
, including career development events (CDEs) and leadership development events (LDEs) and supervised agricultural experience (SAE) projects. - Collaborate with administration, counselors, and CTE staff to support student success.
- Maintain equipment, tools, and inventory; assist with budgeting and ordering of supplies.
- Build partnerships with local industry, businesses, and community organizations.
- Participate in professional development and school activities as required.
- Valid Missouri Teaching Certification in Agriculture Education (or ability to obtain).
- Strong background in agricultural mechanics, construction, fabrication, or related skilled trades.
- Knowledge of shop safety procedures and ability to enforce safety expectations consistently.
- Ability to manage hands‑on learning environments effectively.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Experience in welding, construction, mechanics, or fabrication.
- Experience advising FFA and supervising SAE programs.
- Ability to integrate CAD, design software, or emerging technologies into instruction.
