Academic Monitor – Academy of Innovation at Remington – (43.75% FTE)
Pending BOE approval of staff member's resignation
Salary
- $25.54 per hour
- Pay Band I400
Job Summary
This is a 9.5 month – 3.5 hours per day position (43.75% FTE)
Position Responsibilities
- The academic monitor works with identified students needing intense academic support and their parents.
- Develops individual academic growth plans to maximize academic resources for identified students in the identified areas of need.
- Communicates with appropriate staff to ensure necessary supports for students prior to the start of the school year and collects information for individual academic growth plans.
- Invites parents of participating students to Remington during the onboarding process to discuss the role of the academic monitor with supporting student success.
- Empower training for parents of students in the program.
- Discusses academic intervention strategies, goals, and incentives with parents and students.
- Works with parents, counselors and students to determine general education support and strategies.
- Contacts teachers to notify them which students have an academic growth plan.
- Serves as the primary liaison between the teacher and students with an academic growth plan.
- Meets with each student 2-3x per week.
- Keeps records regarding each meeting and shares this with the principal, counselor on a monthly basis and with the parents bi-weekly.
- Completes classroom visits as needed to support student learning and to ensure transfer of skills are applied in academic setting.
Qualifications
- Ability to organize and prepare classroom lessons and materials and to implement research-based interventions as prescribed by general education teacher.
- Thorough knowledge of the methods, techniques, and procedures used in teaching.
- Sincere desire to work with and educate children.
- Ability to motivate others, be creative, flexible, and patient.
- 60 college credit hours – education related courses preferred or para certification.
