College of the Sequoias Community College District accepts applications for part‑time adjunct faculty pools for the position of Access & Ability Counselor within its Access & Ability Center continuously. Screening committees will conduct the screening of candidates. Meeting the minimum qualifications for a position does not assure the applicant of an interview. If the department does not have an immediate need to add candidates to their pool, applications remain in the queue for consideration until the need arises, or for one year in active status.

Part‑Time

Adjunct Pools

Part‑time adjunct faculty assignments may include weekend and/or evening counseling at the Visalia Campus, the Hanford Educational Center, or the Tulare College Center.

If you submit a duplicate application, only your most recent will remain active for one year.

Part‑time adjunct faculty positions are temporary positions and do not accrue rights to tenure.

Job Duties

Under the general direction of a dean or director, adjunct faculty will provide counseling services to students, including the following:

  • Provide specialized academic counseling services including disability management, academic, career and personal counseling to students with disabilities.
  • Determine student eligibility for support services and secure professional verification of specific disabilities including, but not limited to, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, communication disabilities, acquired brain impairments and psychological disabilities.
  • Identify educational limitations and prescribe appropriate accommodations/ adjustments for students with various disabilities.
  • Evaluate student progress by developing, reviewing, and updating Academic Accommodation Plans (AAPs) and student educational plans. Provide specialized academic and vocational counseling related to degrees and certificates for eligible students.
  • Collaborate with campus faculty/staff, public agencies and medical professionals regarding accommodations for students with disabilities; attend various meetings as required.
  • Recommend and authorize educational accommodations/adjustments.
  • Work cooperatively with staff and students.
  • Serve as a liaison with agencies, community, and with feeder high schools to assist students with disabilities transitioning into COS.
  • Maintain compliance, proper documentation, and confidentiality of student les.
  • Attend workshops/conferences to remain current on laws/issues.
  • Support Student/Staff needs at various locations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of instructional methods and new technologies pertinent to areas of assignment; learn and apply emerging technologies and advances as necessary to perform duties in an efficient, organized and timely manner.
