Location: California

Sacramento Waldorf School seeks a Student Support Manager to oversee and guide student support services across PreK–12. This role works collaboratively with teachers, administrators, families, and outside specialists to ensure students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally in a supportive and inclusive environment.

The Student Support Manager (SSM) oversees the Student Support Committee using Kim John Payne’s Three Streams framework (MTSS). The SSM coordinates academic, social-emotional, and behavioral supports; manages documentation; liaises with public school IEP systems; tracks data and reporting; and fosters positive family interactions. The SSM develops and supports learning plans in collaboration with teachers, parents, and outside providers but does not provide direct therapeutic or instructional services.

The role also serves as a Title IX liaison and participates in committee leadership.

  • Welcoming Communication – Provide a timely, welcoming response to families and colleagues by answering or returning calls and emails promptly.
  • Parent Liaison – Facilitate communication between parents and public-school Individualized Education Program (IEP) systems; represent SWS at IEP meetings.
  • Observations and Enrollment Support – Conduct classroom observations; participate in enrollment interviews for prospective lower school students.
  • Documentation Management – Collaborate with Student Support Committees (LS/HS) to manage documentation for PreK–12 students.
  • Statistics and Reporting – Track and report relevant student support data for administration, faculty, and the Board of Trustees.
  • Family and Student Meetings – Work proactively with teachers, administrators, and SEL faculty to create positive, supportive family and student meetings.
  • Academic Support Coordination – Coordinate Tier 3 academic support, developing and supporting student plans based on IEP or private assessment recommendations.
  • Title IX Liaison – Support coordination of Title IX cases as they arise.
  • Committee Participation – Collaborate with Student Support Executive Chairs on agendas; attend weekly Student Support Committee meetings.
  • Reports and Supervision – Prepare reports as needed; assist with student supervision in common areas.
  • Other Duties – Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Related

Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in an educational setting; special education credential preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Waldorf education and ability to articulate its benefits.

Licenses, Registrations, or

Certifications:

  • Background clearances as required by law.
  • Mandated Reporter training
  • Sexual Harassment Prevention training
  • CPR/First Aid certification

Technical Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage cyclical processes, and track data effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across divisions with teachers, administrators, trustees, parents, and students.
