About

the Department

The Department of Finance, Financial Planning, and Insurance offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes a Bachelor of Science with specializations in Financial Analysis, Financial Planning, and Risk Management and Insurance, alongside an MBA program. The department consists of 11 full‑time tenure‑track faculty members. Faculty benefit from research databases (e.g., WRDS, SPSS, MATLAB) and support for teaching technology including BOX, AWS, Qualtrics, and Camtasia.

Position

The Department of Finance, Financial Planning and Insurance is seeking two tenure‑track faculty members in Finance at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will teach Finance courses and maintain an ongoing research program that meets AACSB’s “Scholarly Academic” requirement.

The position requires weekly office hours, attendance at faculty meetings, participation in student learning assessment, and service to the department, college, and university. The candidate will be expected to mentor students, engage with a diverse student body, and implement culturally responsive pedagogy that fosters equitable outcomes.

Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Finance, Financial Economics, or related fields from an accredited institution.
  • Evidence of, or clear potential for, conducting and publishing original research on finance.
  • Evidence of, or clear potential for, excellence in university‑level teaching (in‑person and online) in areas such as investment, corporate finance, and finance electives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Evidence of, or clear potential for, impactful research in Finance.
  • Experience or potential for engaging a diverse student body using culturally responsive pedagogy.
  • Experience or potential for creating a student‑centered learning environment.
